Opted for the dual tone steel bracelet and received a very handsome and well built watch that attracts just the right amount of attention.

I usually prefer watches with an understated sophistication. But for my Rolex homage, it had to stand apart just as Rolex watches exude a unique aura that has earned them the special distinction of being the most sought after, high-end, luxury watches internationally.
It was an arduous task to select one from among the wide choice of Rolex homages by Pagani Design - Daytona (PD-1644), Yacht-Master (PD-1651), Submariner (PD-1661), Sea-Dweller (PD-1639) and Explorer II (PD-1762).
Delving into history, Rolex introduced the Yacht-Master in 1992 riding on the success of their first nautical-inspired Submariner. The Yacht-Master focused on strength and durability while employing luxurious materials and design, as would be expected from the company. The Yacht-Master slowly evolved over time and Pagani Design pays homage to the latest iterations.
In search of a homage to this historic great with good fundamentals - strength (SS316L case), durability (Seiko NH35) and distinct exclusivity - I was steered to the rose-gold/steel case, accents & bracelet, and black dial. And when it reached me, I was delighted!
The homage is well reproduced in almost all aspects right up to the sapphire cyclops eye on the sapphire crystal over the date window, with a good overall finish. The dial looks distinguished with applied indices and a subtle sun-burst effect. The case has polished sides with a brushed finish on top and below. I particularly like the raised graduation markings on the bezel - the format of polishing against a brushed background is unique. The polished/brushed combination of rose gold and steel flows into the bracelet and the signature locking, fold-over PD clasp.
The clasp can be a little tricky to open for the first time as most watches have a spring-loaded clasp below the overlying fastener, whereas here both parts are only of a press-fit variety.
Except for the missing 'lollipop' at the end of the offset of the seconds pointer and the two main pointers being a bit short in length, this homage could easily earn a place in higher horological homage circles.
