AP 11.59 is a gorgeous watch which is underappreciated compared to their Royaloak series. This watch is the perfect homage to the AP which is a USD 30000 timepiece.
It has a seiko VK 63 Mechaquartz movement. The time is kept by a quartz movement and the chronograph uses a mechanical movement. There are three sub dials at the 2, 6 and 10 o clock positions. They are respectively 24 hrs, small seconds and 60 mins. Date is between 4 and 5 o clock. There is a tachymeter function around the watch which is aligned very well and the finishing rivals that of a Swiss watch costing 10 times or more.
The strap is canvas which is comfortable on the wrist. PD claims a WR of 100m (10 bar). I wouldn't take it diving but rain and splashes should be fine. Lume is pathetic though.
In conclusion, this watch has the combination of a beautiful, elegant, sporty, dressy high end chronograph watch design combined with the advantage of a ultra reliable Japanese movement and a domed sapphire crystal (the AR coating is pathetic to non existent though). This combination at this price is unbeatable and very well worth the investment.
I have an assortment of Swiss and Japanese watches in my collection and this watch definitely does not look out of place in the watch box.

This watch looks like a 500$ watch easily with a strap replacement. The polished and brushed case is incredible and the dial attributes do justice to the omega homage. Definitely go for it

I was pleasantly surprised when I received my S&S Monaco Gulf Edition watch today - the dial on this version has much closer replication of the TAG Heuer watch than the one pictured here - '60' minutes as raised character indices at 12 o'clock, thin, vertical Gulf Racing livery between the 1 & 5 o'clock markers, the sub-dial with a Gulf Racing livery surround at 3 o'clock position and a second-hand indicator at 6 o'clock position.
I also like my version for having the correct 24-hour graduation at the sub-dial in the 3 o'clock position.
Extremely happy with this addition to my collection!

Buy this watch chiefly for its beautifully crafted dial, rather than its functionality. The raised continent of Africa is the highlight, rendering a three-dimensional effect. On very careful examination, you will find the brand name 'MERKUR' as raised characters across North Africa and Saudi Arabia.
The simple steel pointers and rivet-style, raised steel hour markers too provide an elegant touch to the watch's appearance.
The watch features 24 time zones, but international time will only be available at the point when set. The outer bezel is not connected to the main movement, so it remains static as time progresses from that point.
The absence of a second hand pointer is a good omission as it would unnecessarily obstruct the visibility of this beautiful dial. The only drawback is that you have to observe the watch for a few minutes to confirm it is working.
Features a pull-type crown for time setting and a screw-down crown to operate the inner bezel with the city names. Setting the world-time feature is very well explained on many YouTube videos.
Merkur and Pierre Paulin watches feature a quick-release strap system which makes it very easy to change to other straps (a wide range available at dream-watches.com) on your own.
